How does power become visible through documents?
This project looks at archival material from the Litzmannstadt Ghetto in Łódź, mainly letters, permits, and statistics. While going through them, I started to notice how much control sits in these papers—people asking for permission to move, to see family, to live. At the same time, I paid attention to the documents themselves: burn marks, damage, traces of attempts to destroy them. I also photographed the archive and the former ghetto borders, thinking about how history is kept, but also controlled.
